HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT PLASTIC SURGEON FOR THE PROCEDURE I WANT?

Charleston Plastic Surgery

Any doctor can call his or herself a "cosmetic surgeon." Marketing is a fact of life and it is unregulated. Certification by the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties whereas certification by the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgeons is not.

The extent of training and experience a doctor has with a particular procedure is probably the best indicator. Your doctor's medical reputation and board certification is very important. Your doctor should have admitting privileges to the local hospitals as well as be a member of local medical societies. This shows that your doctor has the proper credentials in their specialty. HOW DO I KNOW WHICH SERVICES ARE RIGHT FOR ME?

When you visit us at Charleston Plastic Surgery, your doctor will evaluate your health and discuss with you what your expectations are. Our doctors will describe to you what alternatives and procedures are available and what the risks and the potential benefits of each may be.   Our surgeons will work with you to recommend the procedure that is right for you and will come closest to producing the desired results.

During the consultation, your surgeon will explain the surgical or other procedure, the recovery times involved, where the surgery will be performed, and the costs involved. In some cases, health insurance policies do not cover the costs of cosmetic surgery. You should check your policy to be sure. Return to Top of Page
