Richard C. Hagerty, MD, FACS, is a second generation plastic surgeon from Charleston, SC. His baccalaureate degree is from Johns Hopkins University and his medical degree was awarded by Duke University. He completed residency training in both General Surgery and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Emory University.

Dr. Hagerty is certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the Charleston County Medical Society, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Association of Plastic Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is listed in The Best Doctors in Amercia and Who's Who in America. Dr. Hagerty is a prolific writer in his field and frequent speaker on the subject of plastic surgery.

Dr. Hagerty and his wife, Barbara, an accomplished writer, have four children. Although practicing plastic surgery and caring for his patients is a major focus of his life, Dr. Hagerty balances this with family activities, extensive involvement in community affairs, and creative painting.
