Shelby Carney, AGAC-NP

Shelby Carney, AGAC-NP, is an ANCC board-certified nurse practitioner who brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to her role at Charleston Plastic Surgery. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. During her time as an RN, she specialized in emergency medicine and completed numerous travel assignments across the US in locations including Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, and San Francisco. Originally from Mississippi, Shelby decided, after years of traveling, that Charleston was home sweet home. We first met Shelby when she left the ER setting to work in our very own surgery center as a PACU nurse.

After many years in the nursing role, Shelby continued her education at the University of Alabama, Birmingham (UAB) where she obtained a Master’s degree as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. To better prepare her for surgical specialties, Shelby also completed a registered nurse first assist certification during her time at UAB. She is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses.

Her passion for plastic surgery continues to flourish with each patient she meets. Whether it’s injectables or surgical procedures, Shelby thrives in helping patients feel empowered and comfortable in their own skin. Outside the office, she enjoys spending time outdoors, being on the water, taking her dogs to the beach, and traveling.
