Despite overall good health and a reasonable level of fitness, some people may have “problem areas” of localized fat deposits. These areas can occur due to fluctuating weight, hormones, or heredity. Our doctors use state-of-the-art liposuction techniques to help improve your body shape and contour. During ultrasound-assisted liposuction, a fluid is injected through a very small incision to melt the unwanted fat. The ultrasound-assisted liposuction will give you a smoother, more desirable look.
Liposuction is commonly performed on its own or in conjunction with another surgery. Your doctor will determine which procedure is best for you based on your expectations.
Most patients may return to work in 3-5 days following surgery. You can expect bruising in the areas where the liposuction was performed. This bruising generally resolves within 10-14 days. Some soreness is expected in these areas. A compression garment is worn for 6 weeks to provide reinforcement, which decreases the soreness. Activity and lifting restrictions are dependent upon where the liposuction is performed. In general, you can expect to have exercise and lifting restrictions for approximately 4 weeks.
Results from liposuction may not be apparent directly following surgery due to swelling. This swelling will subside on a weekly basis for up to a full year for maximum improvement.
